SMART Training
Increase brain capacity through fun and positive interaction with others. SMART training integrates motor, sensory and logical elements to boost performance.
DGI has in cooperation with TrainYourEyes developed SMART training, which through integration of motor, sensory and logical elements in all exercises aims to increase the performance of each participant. The new training system will be offered in the country's DGI houses, local associations and sports halls.
The purpose of the training system is to expand the brain's capacity by making it faster and more flexible. The increased capacity creates the basis for better performance, increased overview and better well-being in everyday life, and in many cases increased stress resistance is also achieved.
The training is developed based on inspiration and experiences from brain research and literature, optometry and binocular vision training, as well as from sports, motor games, brain training games, cognitive training, learning games and mental training.
Constant challenge and progression
When you are in a learning situation, the brain's neural network develops – new connections are formed – so it is about constantly putting participants in a learning situation. Participants should be challenged rather than trained to master an exercise.
Example exercise:
4 exercises with cross movements are named with 4 different colors. Participants must remember which exercise belongs to which color. The instructor shows color cards and guides which exercise participants should do. The logical level is further expanded when the instructor, while showing the color cards, says a number sequence – which participants add. The next progression can be that even numbers are added – odd numbers are subtracted. The exercise trains your concentration, focus, cross movement and most importantly; your memory.
SMART training is an offer to all people who want to develop and create increased brain capacity through fun and positive interaction with others. The brain does not mature passively; it develops when challenged and stimulated. The training takes place as a mixture of exercises and play. The idea of the training course is to make the development of the brain's capacity accessible to everyone.
