Binocular vision problems in schoolchildren
Is your child experiencing reading difficulties or concentration problems? The cause may be binocular vision problems.
As a parent, friend or teacher, if you experience a child struggling with reading difficulties, slow reading speed or can only read for short periods, the reason may be binocular vision problems. Vision can be the main cause of reduced reading ability and/or learning ability in general.
Through targeted binocular vision training, the different components of vision can be made to work better together, increasing reading speed, improving reading skills and making the child better at sports.
Symptoms of binocular vision problems in schoolchildren
Problems with reading
- Can only read for short periods and blinks a lot while reading
- Reads slowly and cannot keep up with TV subtitles
- Needs to use finger to keep track of text
- It was/is difficult to crack the reading code
- Skips words or endings and has difficulty distinguishing b and d
- Letters have shadows or appear double
- Vision is blurry when switching from book to board
- Difficulty remembering what was read
Physical discomfort
- Tired eyes and rubs them frequently
- Headaches, dizziness, balance problems and motion sickness
- Difficulty concentrating, sits restlessly and fidgets in the chair
Motor challenges
- Not fond of ball games and has difficulty catching balls
- Clumsy and often bumps into things or trips
