Binocular vision problems in students and adults

Symptoms of binocular vision problems are often intensified by prolonged work in front of the computer.

Our visual world of computers, iPads, mobile phones and TVs places ever greater demands on our eyes. For some, prolonged screen use and close-up work can contribute to visual strain and binocular vision problems, causing symptoms such as headaches, reading difficulties and discomfort. Recognize the signs

Symptoms of binocular vision problems in young people and adults

Reading and screen work

  • Can only read for short periods and blinks a lot while reading/at screen
  • Reads too slowly – text may blur
  • Difficulty keeping up with TV subtitles
  • Need to use finger to keep track of text
  • Letters have shadows or appear double
  • When reading, you can hear your own voice reading aloud, even though you are reading silently
  • Difficulty concentrating in an open office landscape

Physical discomfort during concentration or reading

  • Tired eyes and rubs them frequently
  • Headaches, dizziness, balance problems and motion sickness
  • Difficulty concentrating, often forgets what was read

Visual problems

  • When vision adjusts from one distance to another, it takes a while before it becomes sharp
  • There is a big difference in how the eyes see
  • Vision is blurry or you see double
  • It is difficult to focus and adjust sharpness
  • You have difficulty orienting yourself or judging distances, e.g. in traffic

Screen time strains your eyes
